Education

Promotes core legal education in nursing programs, awareness of the unique role and function of the nurse attorney in nursing education, and acceptance in the academic community of the Juris Doctor as a terminal degree in nursing education.

Health Law and Compliance

Chair: Kathy Gialanella, Esq., RN,BSN,JD,LLM

BOD Liaison:  Randi Kopf, RN, MS, JD

Provides resources, education, and leadership in these areas by making resources available in the form of publications, offering educational programs on "hot topics" in health law, and creating a network of leaders in the fi eld of health law and compliance.

Legal Nurse Consulting

Chair:

Provides resources, education, and networking opportunities for legal nurse consultants.

Litigation

Karen Halpern, BSN, MSN, JD

BOD Liaison:  Paula Henry, RN, NP, JD

Open to members who practice plaintiff or defense litigation and deals with litigation practice issues such as discovery, depositions, experts, and trials.

Student and New Graduate

Chair:

BOD Liason:  Nancy Hoffman, RN, JD

Open to any nurse attending law school or lawyer attending nursing school. Provides for mentorship with TAANA members and networking opportunities with other aspiring nurse attorneys.

 

 

TAANA Committees

Successful associations are built on a system of committee action. Committees provide an important link with the association as well as other organizations and TAANA members.The Board of Directors charges specific activities to committee members. Members will participate on three to four conference calls each year during which the tasks will be accomplished.

 

Archives

The Archives Committee coordinates a collection of TAANA correspondence, publications, papers and reports, financial records, meeting minutes, newspaper clippings, videocassettes and audiocassettes at the Burns Library – Boston College, Massachusetts.

Chapter Presidents Council

Chair: Taralynn Mackay, RN, JD

This Chapter Presidents' Council is available for TAANA chapter presidents.

Conference Planning

Chair: Nancy Hoffman, RN, JD

The Conference Planning Committee collaborates with staff to plan national meetings and educational programs.

Nominations & Elections

Chair: Rosemary McCarthy, MS, JD

Prepares slate of candidates for Board of Directors, conducts the election process.

Membership

Chair: Randi Kopf, RN, MS, JD

The Membership Committee coordinates revisions of membership directory, studies member renewal patterns and sponsors membership drives.
